Oceans Between Us Chapter 37

Leaning against the cold marble of the kitchen counter, I brought my mug of tea to my lips before taking a small sip of the hot liquid. I closed my eyes for a moment, relaxing in the silence that filled the empty room. Taking a deep breath, I open my eyes and walk over to the bulitin board on the other side of the kitchen. Counting the days in my head, I cursed silenly after reading the calender before taking another sip of my tea. "Shit." I mumbled as the circled date taunted me.
"Hey beautiful." A voice whispered before I felt a pair of arms wrap around my middle.
"Good morning." I sang, turning around in Harry's arms with a small smile on my lips. "How did you sleep?"
"Great." Harry grinned, taking the cup out of my hands and taking a small sip.
"That's good." I nodded, eyes flitting across the room so they wouldn't meet Harry's.
"What were you looking at before I came down?" Harry asked me, noticing my tense posture and the way my bottom lip rested between my front teeth.
"Nothing." I shrugged, stepping out of Harry's arms and walking towards the bowl of fruit in the center of the island.
"Sure." Harry chuckled, raising an eyebrow at me as I took a rather large bit from the apple of my hands. "What's wrong?"
"What are you talking about?" I swallowed harshly, rolling the apple around in my hand as Harry began to walk towards me.
"Something is up and you're not telling me. Babe, you can't even look me in the eyes. " Harry spoke slowly, placing his finger underneath by chin so that I would have no choice but to look at him. Studying my eyes, Harry began to bit down on his own bottom lip before taking a step back and running his hand through his hair. I watched in silence as Harry closed his eyes and rubbed his face with his face, letting out a deep sigh twice before clearing his throat. "How long?"
"How long what?" I asked, voice soft and weak as Harry's hands moved from his face to his hair, tugging lightly.
"When do you leave Mel?"
"The end of the week." I whispered, placing the apple that was once in my hands down before I began to walk towards Harry.
"When were you planning to tell me that you are leaving this week?" Harry asked, voice weak and soft as he turned to glance at me.
"I just realized that I was leaving this soon this morning." I admitted with a broken laugh and a weak smile.
"Okay." Harry nodded before pulling me into his arms and resting his chin ontop of my head.
"You're not mad?" I asked, voice muffled by the fabric of Harry's shirt.
"No, I'm not mad." Harry chuckled, placing a kiss along my hairline before taking a deep breath. "I don't have enough time to be mad." Nodding my head against Harry's chest, I placed a small kiss against the fabric of his shirt before taking a deep breath.
"So what do we do now?" I whispered, lifting my head off Harry's chest to look into his green eyes.
"We spend every moment that we have together until you have to board your plane." Harry said, brushing my bangs out of eyes with a soft smile. "Even if that means that I have to drag you to my interview today."
"I don't think that's a good idea Harry. Management will be there."
"I don't care." Harry shrugged, placing his lips on mine for a gentle kiss.
"Well I guess it will give me a chance to start saying goodbye to everyone." I mumbled, giving in to Harry's command.
"Yeah." Harry nodded, his smile leaving his lips before wrapping his arm around my shoulder and pulling me towards the door. "Let's try not to mention that a first."
"Okay." I nodded, slidding my phone and keys into my back pocket before allowing Harry to lead me towards his car.
"Let's just try to pretend that you aren't leaving for another month." Harry sighed, smiling weakly at me as he opened his passenger door for me.
"And that we aren't dating." I reminded as I slide into the leather seat of his car.
"Today's gonna be great." Harry sang, frowning softly in the review mirror before he started to drive towards the interview.
Looking out the window, I placed my hands against the cool glass and let out a soft sigh when I noticed Harry fold in his bottom lip in the corner of my eye. Shaking my head, I lied and told myself that Harry wasn't about to cry and that he was perfectly fine with everything. But once his bottom lips disapeared into his mouth and he grew silent, I knew he was no longer excited about today, or this week for that matter. Shaking my head, I took a deep breath and rested my forehead against the glass before closing my eyes.
"Just great." I mumbled, laughing softly to myself. "Everything will be great."
