Oceans Between Us Chapter 25

"C'mon Libby, a line is begining to form." I laughed, watching as Libby lay stomach down on the ground and line up her golf ball.
"This needs to be perfect." Libby said, one eye closed with a serious expression on her face.
"Alright." I sighed, rolling my eyes playfully at the little girl as I watched her jump up and glance around the hole. Sticking her finger in her mouth, Libby held it up in the air and tested to see which way the wind was blowing. "Any slower and I'll be eighteen."
"Just wait." Libby giggled, standing next to her ball and positioning her club.
"Libb are you going to this the entire time? We're only on hole one." I teased lightly, adjusting my sunglasses on my nose as the sun decided to come out from hiding behind a cloud.
"Four!" Libby screamed, swining her club and hitting the ball before watching it roll down the green. I watched in amazement as the ball bounced off the walls ad green before landing right next to the hole.
"So close little duck." I sang, smiling widely as Libby let out a small groan.
"Nooo!" Libby groaned before shrugging her shoulders and skipping towards the ball. Lining up her club, Libby lightly tapped the ball into the hole. "Hole in two."
"Gotcha." I laughed, scribling a two in the scorecard before placing my ball down on the green and narrowing my eyes at the hole, trying to find the best way to attack the hole.
"Hurry up Melissa, we don't have all day." Libby called over her shoulder as she started to make her way to the second hole.
Rolling my eyes, I swung my club and smiled as the ball landed right next to the hole like Libby's had. Lightling hiting the ball in, I grabbed my blue golf ball and chased after Libby who was waiting patiently at the next hole.
"What took you so long?" Libby whined, placing her hands on her hips as she glared at me.
"Well sorry if I had to take my turn." I sang, placing my hands on my hips and narrowing my eyes at Libby in a teasing way.
"I like your shorts Melissa." Libby smiled, going over to the next hole and placing her ball down. Glancing down at my black and white striped shorts, I smiled softly at the compliment before pointing my finger at Libby.
"Don't try to distract me by complimenting my shorts." I said, chuckling softly at Libby who was grinning madly at me.
"I like your red shoes and necklace too." Libby sang, lining up her ball before swinging her club.
"Stop complimenting me." I laughed, ruffling Libby's hair as we watched the ball roll right into the hole.
"Hole in one!" Libby screamed, smiling up at me with a large gap toothed grin.
"High five." I sang, slapping Libby on the hand before Libby ran down the green to recieve her ball. Chuckling softly to myself, I scribed Libby's score next to her name before freezing in place. Feeling that I was being watched, I turned my head and glanced behind me as I saw a slight movement in the bushes behind me. Squinting my eyes in the harsh sun, I watched the bushes for a few moments more until Libby's voice snapped my back to the golf game at play.
"C'mon Melissa." Libby giggled, standing on top of a rock as she waited for me to go.
"Okay, okay." I laughed, brushing off that paranoid feeling before hitting the ball down the green to recieve another hole in two.
"I'm winning." Libby sang, sticking her tongue out at me before running to the next hole.
"Who gave her an energy drink?" I mumbled under my breath as I trailed behind her, the feeling of being watched still just as strong as before. I turned to look at Libby who was humming quietly to herself as she scanned the hole, joy clearly written on her features. Even though Libby seemed to be having the time of her life, I still couldn't shake off the feeling that we were being watched. Shaking my head, I picked my ringing phone out of my pocket and pressed it to my ear without even checking the call i.d.
"Hello?" I greeted, giving Libby a thumbs up as she got a hole in three.
"Hey babe." Harry chuckled on the other line, a smile forming on my lips at the sound of his voice.
"Hey." I sang, balancing my phone between my head and shoulder as I took my turn at mini golf.
"What's up?"
"Playing mini golf with Libby." I smiled, watching the ball roll right into the whole before letting out a loud scream and lifting my arms in the air in victory.
"What was that?" Harry chuckled on the other line, clueless as to what was going on.
"I just got a hole in one." I breathed, jogging down the green to collect my ball before sticking my tongue out at Libby. "Ha!"
"Lucky shot." Libby mumbled, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the next hole.
"Slow you're roll small fry." I laughed, pressing my phone back against my ear as I waited for Libby to take her turn.
"Way to go babe." Harry sang, making me roll my eyes at him even though I knew he couldn't see it.
"I am quite skilled in the art of mini golf." I said, trying to attempt an English accent which made Harry laugh loudly on the other end.
"You're too cute, you know that?" Harry chuckled, no doubt in my mind that he was grinning at home at my dorkiness.
"I try." I shrugged, smiling as Libby began to set up for her next shot. "You got this Libby."
Libby looked up from the ground and smiled widely at me before swinging the club and skipping after the ball once more. Chuckling softly to myself, I shook my head at the little girl before a snap of a twig made me glance behind me.
And that's when I saw it.
